When A Health Plan Meets Hockey
Health Plan of Nevada is the Presenting Partner of the Vegas Golden Knights Skating Academy
As soon as Health Plan of Nevada found out hockey was coming to our hometown, we knew we needed to be a part of the action. Vegas Born organizations need to stick together, after all! We had no idea how important the Vegas Golden Knights would become to the community we’ve served for more than 35 years—and to our core mission of helping people live healthier lives.
Today, we are proud to be an “Official Partner of the Vegas Golden Knights” and presenting partner of the Learn to Skate program, the Vegas Golden Knights Skating Academy. This exciting collaboration combines the strength of both Health Plan of Nevada and the Vegas Golden Knights, and we are so honored to be part of the program. We began the Taking On Healthy campaign as a way to inspire healthy change in our community, and the goals of the academy, alongside the character of the Vegas Golden Knights, couldn’t have been a better match.
Our members and employees have embraced the Golden Knights from day one. Our partnership with the Vegas Golden Knights is a perfect fit for our Taking On Healthy campaign that encourages Nevada’s kids to be more active and healthier.—Don Giancursio, Health Plan of Nevada CEO
The academy strives to create a fun environment that promotes learning through teaching aids, music and activities. It offers a challenging yet rewarding curriculum perfect for anyone interested in figure skating, hockey or recreational skating. As kids as young as three can lace up their skates and take to the ice, this program is sure to have a strong influence on Southern Nevada’s youth for years to come. We will help take on the vital role of increasing the public’s awareness of hockey while encouraging area youth to be more active and healthy.
The Golden Knights are thrilled to partner with another “Vegas Born” organization, and we greatly appreciate the support of Health Plan of Nevada as we aim to continue growing the sport of hockey in Nevada.—Kerry Bubolz, Golden Knights President
You may have also seen Health Plan of Nevada during the 2018 Vegas Rookie Faceoff event last September at City National Arena, the Golden Knights’ practice facility. We were a supporting partner at this inaugural event featuring rookies from six NHL teams, including the Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. It’s just the beginning of much more to come!
Health Plan of Nevada is excited to have the Vegas Golden Knights become part of our family. We can’t wait to witness the continued impact we will have on our amazing city, together. Go Knights Go!
