Suicide is currently the second-leading cause of death for adolescents ages 10–24. This is a reality affecting our communities. Knowledge and prevention are key.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, uncertainty and isolation have impacted the mental health of our children and adolescents. Teenage years are already tough enough, and the current isolation is not helping our youth.

In our ongoing effort to help prevent teen suicide, Health Plan of Nevada collaborated with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to host More than Sad, a virtual presentation on youth suicide prevention on February 3, 2021.

This no-cost presentation was open to the community and offered information on how to help prevent teen suicide and where Nevada’s parents and caregivers can turn for help.
